Kayla Flinn is originally from Halifax She graduated from St Mary’s University and received an environmental studies masters degree and environmental/sustainable education diploma from York University. Her master’s thesis, titled “Nature Misses You: Reconnecting modern societies to animals and nature via research-based art” was also her most recent solo exhibit at the Lion and Bright Gallery . A Jill of all trades, most recently she has been traveling as a freelance journalist, collecting research and writing articles for non-profit wildlife organizations. She is also an onscreen talent/video host for factual TV programming and a variety of professional companies. “I would like to create some more pieces from my skull collection, as well as paint live for my “Through The Looking Glass” collection (a series of abstract color paintings of canvas that are completed with a resin finish giving them a glassy look when dried). I also would create some of my botanical oils on canvas that once purchased, can be used as a form of adult coloring.” She also creates head pieces and feather jewellery which will be for sale during the festival as well as giving feather hair extensions on site.
